Delta eCredit rules and expirations

An eCredit is good until the original ticket is no longer valid. Ticket validity is usually one year from the date of purchase. Delta now has a specific policy in place to keep things simple and provide passengers with greater flexibility: all tickets slated to expire in 2021, as well as any new tickets purchased in 2021, will expire on Dec. 31, 2022. This also extends the validity of any eCredits issued within that time period until December 31, 2022. Furthermore, any eCredits held as of Jan. 12, 2022, will be valid until Dec. 31, 2023, and can be used to book flights in 2024.

Changes, cancellations, and new appointments can all be done online or over the phone. If you're certain you want to cancel your flight but aren't sure when you'll be able to travel again, it's preferable to cancel first then rebook after your new travel plans are set.

Where to find your eCredits?

Create a Delta SkyMiles account, then go to www.delta.com/redeem to find your unused travel vouchers. Click "Look Up" after entering your ticket number in the "Certificates or eCredit #" area.

On the next page, you must authenticate your eCredit by entering the passenger's first and last names. The website will reload when you click "Add," and your voucher value will appear under Manually Entered Certificates and eCredits.

If your reservation involves many passengers, you'll need to repeat this process for each of them.

Those who purchased flights with their SkyMiles number shouldn't have to actively look for their credits. They should already be shown in your account's Certificates, eCredits, and Vouchers tab.

To apply an unused eCredit to a new reservation, you may need to call Delta customer care at 800-221-1212. An agent can assist you if you can't find your voucher or can't pick it when making a reservation.

How to make Delta Airlines Booking with eCredit?

Before we get started, keep in mind that any eCredit refunds provided to a specific passenger must be utilized to book fresh travel for that passenger. It is not transferable to another person.

A Delta eCredit can be used in two ways to book a flight:

1. Via your SkyMiles account

When you log into your SkyMiles account and browse to your profile, you'll see a page with your personal information. Click "Certificates, eCredits, and Vouchers" on the left-hand side, under Profile.

You'll be sent to a page that displays all of your Delta eCredits, Unused eTickets, and Companion Certificates, along with their monetary values and expiration dates.

Continue to book your flight by checking the box next to the voucher you want to apply to your new reservation. You'll have to pay the difference if the new flight is more expensive than your credit allows.

If you want to apply numerous eCredits to your ticket, please keep in mind that Delta only allows you to use three different payment methods online. Per reservation, you can choose up to three Delta certificates. If they don't cover the total cost of new airfare, choose two eCredits and pay the rest using a credit card.

2. Book as normal and pay with eCredits

The second way to use your Delta eCredit is to book a flight from the homepage as you normally would. When choosing a payment option, click "Use eCredits" after selecting your flight schedules and passenger information. Select the one(s) you want to redeem from your active credits and complete your booking.

If you're only going to utilize one or two vouchers from a list, go with the ones that expire first, even if they're for a smaller amount. You don't want them to go to waste before you can use them again.

It's important to remember that the credits linked with your account can only be used if you're signed into SkyMiles.

Delta travelers have a broad opportunity to rebook their canceled flights through the new eCredit refund system, according to a flyer-friendly policy adopted during the pandemic.
